Best Facial Toner by Skin Type

Are you aware of your skin type and do you know how many skin types are there? There are five basic types of skin: normal, dry, oily, combination, and sensitive. It is important to know and understand about each skin type for proper skincare and to maintain a healthy, glowing, and clear skin.

Skin type is determined by genetics but the skin condition depends on various factors and the habits of the person. A skin type can change over time.

1. Normal

• Neither oily or dry

• Fine or small pores

• Little or no blemishes

• Radiant complexion

Avoid products that cause too much dryness or that make the skin feel greasy. Although this skin type requires less maintenance, it is still important to be consistent in using a regular skin product to keep the skin clean and healthy.

2. Dry

• Almost invisible pores

• Tightness in the skin

• Flaking or scaly patches

• Red patches

• More visible lines

• Rough complexion

Use moisturizer regularly to keep the skin from drying. It’s recommended to use moisturizers that are cream based compared to lotions because creams contain more oil which can make the skin more moisturizing. Use gentle and mild cleansers or soaps instead of the deodorant soaps.

3. Oily

• Enlarged visible pores

• Shiny or dull and thick complexion

• pimples, blackheads, whiteheads or other blemishes

Wash the face not more than twice a day and after sweating a lot. Use a gentle cleanser and lightly exfoliate the skin. Use skin care products that contain gentle exfoliators and cosmetics that are noncomedogenic so that they won’t clog the pores.

4. Combination

• shiny on the T-zone

• Flaky and dry skin on portions of the face

• Excessive oil on other parts of the face

Use natural skincare products because harsh and chemically based treatments will only dry out some parts of the face and make the oily parts more oily. Avoid using products with fragrance and regularly exfoliate the skin. Use a heavy moisturizer on the cheeks and a light moisturizer on the oily parts of the face.

5. Sensitive

Sensitive skin may exhibit the characteristics of oily, dry, or combination skin types but they deal with the following:

• Dryness

• Itching

• Redness

• Burning

Avoid harsh and chemical-based skin care treatments. Use natural skin care products to avoid having adverse reactions.
